| Terry has been performing Irish ballads in local Irish pubs as well as performances at Irish festivals, Renaissance Faires and fundraisers all over the U.S. for over 3 decades.
His music reflects his Irish heritage and his experiences in Ireland and appeals to the Irish-Americans who look beyond the stereotypical to the true essence of being Irish.
His work with Irish organizations and the Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade committee earned him the honor of Grand Marshal for the parade in 1999. He is currently the chairman of the Marching Bands Committee for the parade and also does PR for the parade as well as for many Irish events in Pittsburgh .
Terry Griffith is known for his interpretation of Irish ballads. His rich baritone voice is suited to ballads from the humorous to the emotional and his repertoire is sure to take audiences through the highs and lows that only Irish music can span in an evening.
Terry has three CDs, "For My Grandfathers" released in 1994 and “Songs From The Pub” released in 2006 and “Faire Play” released in 2009 All are available on line through cdbaby.com, http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/t e rrygriffith .
Terry's CD, “For My Grandfathers”, contains 10 ballads recorded with the help of some of the very best Irish musicians of the genre and guaranteed to be one of the favorites in any collection of Irish music lovers. The title song explains why a "Yank" of Irish heritage would become involved in the music and the politics of Ireland . "If my ancestors would have never left Ireland , I would be there singing the same songs.” The album is not only a sample of his vocal and guitar styling but the other excellent musicians compliment and complete the experience. It's not a party album that you play in the background but one that you truly listen to for the words, the emotion and the message. The album was very favorably reviewed in the national publication, Renaissance Magazine in March, 2009. (Attached)
“Songs From the Pub” is a compilation of 17 Irish songs from his pub act. It's just Terry's vocals and a guitar with no other instruments. “This is a party album”.
“Faire Play” is a collection of 14 ballads normally played at Renaissance and Medieval Faires. Although not “period” music, it is the best of Irish festival music including comedy pieces and soulful ballads that has made Terry's stage act so popular at those venues. All the vocal harmonies and instruments heard on the recording were done by Terry.
Terry's YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/TerryGriffith1 shows clips of his pub act and Renaissance Festival stage act as well as the popular “Drink Tax Song” which has received over 10,000 hits.
