Members of the Irish Society for Education and Charity, Inc. were on hand at St. John Neumann Catholic School in Lawrenceville on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, to present a scholarship to Michael Sullivan, a 2 nd grade student at the school. The Irish Society for Education and Charity, Inc., is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to promote Irish heritage through cultural activities and scholarships. The Society also oversees the Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day parade. Vice President and Parade Coordinator Kevin Donohue presented a scholarship in the amount of $2100, which will cover Michael's tuition for one year. Receiving the scholarship along with Michael were his mother, Stephanie Sullivan, Principal of St. John Neumann School, Sister Coletta, and Michael's teacher, Suzanne Principe. Present from the Irish Society for Education and Charity, Inc., were Treasurer and Parade Chairman Glenn Cannon, Secretary John McEvoy, and Director Sharon Guerra. Also in attendance were Parade Committee members Dan Devinney, Esq., Rich O'Malley and Terry Griffith, past Parade Grand Marshall. |
